The Star Project

This is part of the "star project". I handed out stars like these on Memorial Day to the Vets at our Troops flag raising ceremony. I didn't realize just how much this gesture meant, until they started sharing their stories with me. Even those who were not Vets, but knew a Veteran, wanted a star to give to them.

Today as I spoke with Volunteers at the aerospace museum, they shared their stories with me too. I wished I had a star with me. I mentioned this project and they were very pleased by the gesture and said they would love to be a recipient. I'm thinking we will have to make a return visit with stars in arms.

I'm thinking this would be a great Eagle project for my son, the process of cutting, bagging and handing out, and then adding to that, an interview; recording and compiling stories from Vets and visiting Vetrans Organizations, maybe even developing an Afterschool program at a VFW!!!! Oh my wheels are turning.

Our first  written interview will have to be my father, who served in the Signal Corps. I can't wait. If you know someone who has served or who would like to either cut or receive a star let me know.

Thinking like a scout...always,
Mommer
