We all have a story to tell
When I was a single mom, {1995-1997} alone every other weekend, I had nothing.
Often crying my way through the days. Someone asked, what my hobbies were. I said, "they were my children, Amanda and Kelsea." {my Big Littles} Then, that person said, "well, you need to find another happiness, something for you when they are not here."
So he pretty much gave me permission to find a happy place in their absence. That happy place was a used book store. I loved the muted colors, the binding and the look of worn out love on the pages. I could wander for hours looking and I could afford to buy a book.
I bought my first "old" book.... "A•Man•With•Black•Eyelashes, by H•A• Kennedy, 1897 for a few bucks. $2.95 to be exact.
I brought it home to read, and instead of crying, I passed the time falling in love with words, and all the pomp and circumstance of the Victorian era. The next book I bought, was non fiction, about women's incapacitation rights, the embossed binding and pictures protected by vellum. It took me back to a time more genteel. {I let someone borrow this and haven't seen it since. So sad. It was a great story and a great book.}
Well, weekend after weekend I bought a book 54, that's about 108 weekends alone... Then I moved, met my best friend and my loneliness was over. I remarried and not only did I have two beautiful daughters to share, but my love of books. My mister and I have added to it, and even my daughters.
Oh, my favorites are red leather bonded Rudyard Kipling books, an old dictionary from the 1800's, man the world was so different then, and an encyclopedia set from the early 1900's.
These books are a passing of time, they have been packed for quite a time now, and opening them up brought this memory back to me.
These books placed in my home are not just about me, but a reminder of past lives, the ones who wrote the stories in them. They are for us to reflect. We all have a story to tell and I believe we should share it. We learn so much from others and every story is important.
Littles, please write yours down, fiction, non-fiction they are your thoughts and your truth. Share them.
From me to you w love, M
