Need to Sew. Need to Pray.

While at the fabric store I was agonizing over the material.

 Lots of it.

Too many choices.

Curtains are a necessity in this bone chill weather and I really need to make and hang them ASAP. I also want enough material for a long table cloth to cover two tables, end to end, for my party and stay within budget.

I had already been to three stores and at this, last store, Joanne's for over an hour looking at rows and rows of material.

                            **********************
On Sunday a lady gave a talk in church and she told us, we need to be more specific with our prayers, right down to the simplest of details.
                           *************************

I've never prayed for fabric before.
Right there in the store I said a prayer.

"Please help me find some material that I can...

Afford and love.

- and I really  could use some crowns. "

I went to the clearance area, AGAIN, and dug and dug and dug. I found some material I liked. It had no price tag. I was hoping this was my lucky find. I took it to the counter to find out the cost and it was $15.00 a yard!!! Not so lucky, but I loved the material.  I had the lady put it on hold for me while I kept looking because I was not going home without material and if that was the only material I loved and could use, I might have to make a call to my Mister to see what he thought about the cost.

You see I needed 6 yards just for the girls windows. That would be $75.00 for one room at that cost!!

I kept looking around, I was looking for hours. I didn't realize this until my "eat lunch" alarm went off on my phone. It was noon.

I ended up in a section that I never looked at before. It was called "shirting" {almost forgot the r , yikes and spell check didn't catch it, luckily I can edit. } The fabric didn't look like material to make shirts out of.  Well, I found the best fabric to go with the Littles' Simply Shabby Chic comforters. It's all white, with some puckering and stitch-work that looks like a quilt. Dreamy and white. It was half the price of the other material $6.99 a yard, but was on sale that week for an additional  40% off!!!  Woo woo!!! Blessed.

Then as I was coming around the material aisle back to the cutting station and I saw a lady from church looking at patterns. She is a much better seamstress than I, so I shared my ideas about the material. We talked a bit, I told her about my MNOP coming up and that I was looking for crowns.  She SAID!!!! "I have lots if crowns. They are left over {from an event almost a year ago}, I was going to donate them to the DI, a second hand store, but thought they were to fragile. Your more than welcome to have them. "  hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!

How sweet are these?

You may think this is a coincidence, but I can't help to think that these little tender mercies are encouragement to me, that I am not only getting answer to my prayers, but that what I am trying to accomplish is right and that my instincts to push forward with these party plans even though I will not have my house completely ready is the right thing to do.

Well, there is more to the story. Thinking I was never going to find fabric for the tables,  I set up mock place settings to see how it would look using what I had.

It was ok, but not what I had envisioned as one long continuous table.

I went back to walmart to purchase some reflectors to put at each end of my entrance so people coming could see from far away, since this country road is fast and busy.

Well, I thought I'd go to the fabric section again.

And look what I found!!!

I was thinking this would be good for some future event outside and it was so cheap. So as to not have a dilemma next time, I'd buy it now!!

Tender mercies all these things.
I know Heavenly Father knows us and hears our prayers, big and small.

Even when we don't pray he helps and guides us, but prayers are like frosting on an already yummy cake piled nice and high with lots of swirls.

From me to you w love, M
