Doodle faith by Mommer

In October 2014, I was babysitting my sisters 4 kids along with my own. It happened to be Conference weekend, one in which I was looking forward. In order to keep their hands busy, but their ears open, I encouraged them to draw.

It was then, that I started my Value Girls, although it was an accidental series.

I was challenging myself to draw for the Art in a Shopping Cart program I created, not for the purpose of value girls. It just happened to turn out that when compiled they reminded me of the 7 values of the Young Women Personal Progress program.

I've been working in Boy Scouts forever, so the Young Women themes were not in the forefront of my life, but I could not deny they seemed to be just that.

The next time conference came around, April 2015, I remembered how well it went when everyone drew...So, this time I deliberately choose to doodle what I heard.

During the break on Sunday, in between, we drove to my sisters house.

I continued doodling there.

completed most of the doodles at the time the talks were given, but I missed Saturday due to another obligation. I decided to listen to them all, online and doodle each one.

It was awesome, as I could listen over and over again while I drew, the words setting deep in my heart and mind for weeks following.

When someone spoke of a talk, I could see the picture I drew in my mind.

When this last April came along, I knew I would doodle them, encouraging my Littles to doodle also.

I doodled Saturday and Sunday and left room to complete or add to later.

Each week, I choose a talk, usually in chronological order and finished the doodle & added more.
I'd listen to the talks like background music.
I wanted to embrace all the words and reflect them in my drawings.
I even decided to paint them and add more detail every time someone shared their thoughts about the talk.

They became artwork in my home.

I am looking forward to General Conference in just a few weeks.
I invite you to join me and doodle. If you do you can share on Instagram by hash tagging

I know you'll be blessed by the words and what you doodle or draw will be imprinted in your heart.

from me to you w love,
