NSLA J learning new talents and skills

"NSLA" {Not So Little Anymore}, J, is actively involved in the curious works of Boy Scouting.

He has a Board of Review coming up and is trying to finish things up so he can receive his rewards.

Here are a few things he has done with his troop....

All the Scouts learned a skit and performed like pros!
This was such a confidence builder for them.
They were beaming when they came off the stage.
Little J was very apprehensive about getting on stage, and the whole process, but when the night was done, he gave me a hug and said " mom, I didn't think I was going to have a good time, but you made it so much better. "
That feed my soul to the core. I will never forget this. All the preparations that went into this, and all the pep talks to get him up there just to blow a party blower because he wouldn't  sing, and even creating a one eyed guy so he could feel like he was in hiding behind it, was totally worth it!!
The costumes evolved from above to below... I wasn't sure how much time I would have to work on this, so at first, I kept the overalls simple, but then decided that they would look better with a bib on them.  A fellow Mommer made the G's for me to iron on, and it really added the finishing touch it needed to make these Scouts turn into Minions.

Here they are working on the Chess Merit badge.......this takes some serious thought!
They were really into it.  First time the adults were talking more then the Scouts!!!

They gathered together to do some geocaching several times and J designated a travel bug with the purpose of following a scout law of helpfulness.

Searching for treasure....geocaching....
get out of the house!! Go on a treasure hunt!!! It worked! It's happening !!
Here they are looking at the cache they found.

The "Helpful Hopper" travel bug that had the goal to travel across the nation, made it to Florida. It traveled from California to Florida in a matter of weeks. He only has 2 days left to log this travel bug and then he will have completed the geocaching merit badge. However, this will be one of those skills he has learned, that he will want to use over and over. :))

Thank you to our fearless, selfless leaders, who make things possible &
to the geocache finders who really want to pass it on.

He is full of joy!!

From me to you w love, m
